Entrance to the Stone Garden

Behind the the palace itself is a spot reserved for peace and quiet, named the Stone Garden. Its circular entryway leads the way to a path of stepping stones through a field of raked sand and pebbles. Islands of moss and young pine trees dot the area, where the stone and sand has been raked to resemble clouds and waves.

It is not by any means an extravagant garden, but most of the beautiful flowers found in the lowlands of the Empire simply would not survive this high up in the mountains where the climate is much harsher. What this garden does provide however is a place of serenity, and offers stone benches along its path for visitors to sit and relax. Even if the stone benches are not very comfortable (however the monks tending to the garden here claim that the benches' purpose is not for comfort).
